Schloss Baruth

Baruth Castle, built on the remains of a 13th-century medieval castle, has been given a new lease of life following its extensive refurbishment. Visitors can expect a fascinating blend of historic and contemporary architecture and a picturesque castle garden.

The palace complex houses two castles. On the foundation of the 13th century, the old castle was built after 1671. A good century later followed the new castle, an ensemble of three building parts. In April 1945, the boiler battle of Halbe raged here. Although almost two-thirds of all buildings were destroyed in Baruth, the old castle was preserved.

The renovation resulted in a sequence of completely different rooms full of art and architectural history. Particularly worth seeing is the imposing castle cellar, which is characterized by a massive barrel vault made of bricks. Still originating from the medieval castle, here you can breathe centuries-old history.
