castle Großkmehlen

The “Path of the Thousand Oaks” leads from the Lindenau Landscape Park along the Pulsnitz to the small park which belongs to the castle Großkmehlen. The imposing Renaissance castle dating from the 16th century is a historical as well as a lively place. The renovation by the German Foundation for Monument Protection are in full swing.

The water castle is a cultural venue. The spacious historical Landscape park is also a special gem.

Even though the three-storey castle was built in this form in the 16th century, it still dates back to its beginnings a 12th century medieval building. In the 17th century, probably by Italian artists, conversions were made in the interior of the castle.
Today it is possible to admire Baroque stucco and late Gothic elements such as cell vaults and curtain arches in addition to high saddle roofs and Renaissance gables.

With its colourful mixture of epochal components, the Schloss Großkmehlen invites you to an amazing stay.
